EOLAB takes part in the QA4EO-2 Cal/Val Workshop #6 in Helsinki

EOLAB took part in the QA4EO-2 Cal/Val Workshop #6, held in Helsinki from 30th September to 2nd October 2025.

The event, organized under the QA4EO-2 contract of the European Space Agency (ESA), brought together leading teams and experts in the Earth Observation (EO) community to review progress in Calibration and Validation (Cal/Val) activities.

Throughout the workshop, participants discussed key topics across several EO domains, including Metrology, Atmosphere, Cryosphere, Land, and Water. The meeting provided a valuable platform to exchange knowledge, share technical developments, and strengthen collaboration across ongoing Cal/Val efforts.

As part of its contribution, EOLAB presented its analysis and update of the CEOS LPV SuperSites (V2), which originate from major international networks such as ICOS (Integrated Carbon Observation System), NEON (National Ecological Observatory Network), TERN (Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network), and GBOV (Ground-Based Observations for Validation). These super sites play a key role in improving the quality and consistency of Cal/Val reference data used for satellite product validation.

EOLAB’s participation highlights its ongoing commitment to ensuring the quality, accuracy, and interoperability of Earth Observation data, contributing to the development of methodologies and tools that enhance the reliability of satellite-derived products.
